5 Powerful Benefits of Sister Circles

The Crisis of Disconnection and the Lifeline of the Circle
Loneliness isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s a severe public health risk. The U.S. Surgeon General highlights that social disconnection increases the risk of anxiety, depression, heart disease, dementia, and even premature death. In fact, research indicates the health risks of chronic isolation are comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day or having obesity. This is why the nation is grappling with a public health crisis rooted in disconnection and why finding reliable social connection is essential for women’s mental health.
For many women—especially those navigating family addiction, intense caregiving demands, divorce, infertility, menopause, relocation, or an empty nest—the feeling of isolation quietly becomes the norm. It is in these moments that seeking support, specifically through accessible peer groups like Sister Circles for Women’s Mental Health, offers a lifeline.
